Meijer deals Jan 6-12

 

Chris has a sweet aunt who stops by every couple of weeks with coupons that she collects for me.  She also usually sneaks candy in the coupon bag for the boys and this week, she brought me oranges fresh from Florida!  And do you know why she brings me coupons?  Because she caught me dumpster diving for coupons at the paper gator a while back, so I blushingly explained to her what I was doing and now she brings me her loot!

MEIJER

Barilla pasta~On sale for $1 and there was a coupon in Sunday's paper for $1/3 (Some regions got coupons for $1/2)

Capri Sun~Coupon for Buy 3, get 1 free, so 4/$5

Purex Laundry detergent~$2.99 - $1/1 coupon = $1.99

Colgate toothepaste ~ $1- 75 cents/1 coupon = 25 cents each!

Finish Powerball tablets ~ $2.69 - $2.15 = 54 cents each!  This coupon comes around once a year or so but it seems like the shelves are often cleared.  Might get a rain check if that happens.

Anybody have any idea where I can get cheap ground beef?  I want to make a bunch of freezer meals with gb but the prices have been a bit steep lately.

Meijer: Pizza and pop deals

Pizza and pop are kind of a Sat. night tradition around here (I try to throw some veggies or fruit into the mix!), so it was great to grab the following deals this week at Meijer:

*Buy 2 Palermo thin crust pizzas @$5 each and get 1 free 12 pack of Pepsi/Sierra Mist.

*Use the Buy 2, get 1 free Digiorno pizza coupon on coupons.com and get $2 OYNO (They are also $5 each this week.) Pay $8 for 3 pizzas after coupons.

*Buy 4 7up brand 2 liters, get $2 off instantly.

Also, if you use Rotel tomatoes (think PW's Restaurant-style salsa), the Meijer equivalent is 69 cents each.

Meijer Deals

A few things I picked up tonight:

*2 Kraft Natural Cheese slices $2 each - (2) $1 off coupons from coupons.com.  Buy 2 cheeses, get 1 Meijer split top wheat or white bread free.

*Hotwheels products are buy one, get one 50% off.  I bought 1 track set for $9.99 and 1 10-pack of cars for $9.47.  I used a $10/1 track set from coupons.com and paid less than 5 bucks for both toys.  I'm saving the track for Noah's bday and the cars are for the little boys' New Year's stockings.

*Buy 4 packages of Hanes for the family and get $10 off.  I bought 3 packages of boys' socks and 1 package of boys' underwear and paid $14.

Meijer Thanksgiving deals

This week at Meijer, buy a $50 gift card and get a coupon for $5 OYNO.

I bought a gift card, paid for it, and then bought my turkey and groceries in my next order.  When you spend $20, you get $10 off a 10-15 lb turkey, and $17 off a larger turkey.  So I got $10 of my turkey, plus $5 off from my gift card coupon.

Turned out to be quite the couponing week at Meijer.  Here's a few things:

Kikkoman soy sauce~ Free after coupon, mperk, and $2 OYNO when you buy 3
Mott's Apple juice ~About $1.25 for 64 oz after coupon and instant savings (Have you ever had the Mott's for Tots?  Tastes kind of like flavored water.  I think they took a bit too much sugar out.)
Kraft dressing~79 cents each after Facebook coupon

And a few more things I picked up this morning.  I ended up going to Meijer 3x this week, but was able to do it without a lot of impulse items added to the bill.  I got some free soy sauce, Coffeemate for $1.12/bottle (coupon at coffeemate.com), and some Magnum ice cream bars (These are delicious!) and Yosicles for about $1.25 after I use the $2 OYNO when I bought the 4 frozen treats.

Meijer Breakfast Stock-up

Meijer had a President's sale today.  Buy 10 participating items, get $5 off your purchase.  Combined with a great $5/5 Kellogg's cereal coupon, I got 10 boxes of cereal for $9.90.  The pop tarts were about 80 cents (a rare treat!),  The waffles were still $3.49/box.  I also got 4 boxes of fruit snacks for 80 cents each and 4 Uncle Ben's ready rice for just over a dollar each.

Meijer deals this week

I saw a couple of good deals at Meijer this week:

John Morrell bacon~2 bucks for a 12 oz package.  I don't buy bacon too often, but this seemed like a decent deal.

Peanut Butter Cheerios~ deal here ($1/box).  However, I couldn't find them at my Meijer.

Dannon Light and Fit Yogurt  32 oz~$1.48, coupons here.

Also, check your Mperks for 50% off clearance winter apparel and footwear (2 coupons).  Usually Meijer puts winter clothing and accessories on clearance the beginning of February and with this mperk, you can get some great deals for next winter.

Meijer Deals~Jan.15-21

I was going to take a pic, but I forgot.  Anyhoo, here's the best deals I see:

Grapes~$1.24/lb
(And speaking of fruit, have you ever had a pinata apple??  They had them at Meijer this week.)

Boneless pork ribs~$1.89/lb (The only thing I ever do with these is brown them and stick them in the crockpot on low for about 4 hrs with barbecue sauce.  Any other ideas??)

Mott's apple juice~I did not get these because they were totally gone, but if they are at your Meijer, you can get 5 bottles for 79 cents each.  Just use (2) $1/2 Meijer Mealbox coupons and you automatically get $5 off when you buy 5.  Maybe I'll be able to get some later this week.

Eggs~99 cents/dozen (limit 4)

Meijer Stock-up Deals-Jan. 1-7

There weren't too many great deals at Meijer this week, but here's a couple of items I stocked up on:

*Pork loin- $1.89/lb (not the cheapest I've ever seen but still a decent deal)

*Carrots- $1/ 3 lbs.  I bought 9 lbs!

Here's what I did with my pork and carrots:

 I bought 2 large roasts and cut both in half.  Out of one half, I made 8 pork chops.

 So I ended up with at least 5 meals, 3 roasts and two of pork chops (One of which was devoured already!  Try out the Parmesan Honey Pork Roast I posted in this weeks meal plan.).  Another pork roast recipe we like is this Teriyaki Pork Roast.

I peeled and chopped about 6 lbs of carrots and put them in a gallon ziploc bag.  I'm hoping I'll be able to knock off meal size chunks that I just have to cook (peeling and chopping is done already).

I don't see much at Meijer for next week.  The one great deal is for Kool-Aid Jammers.  Buy 3 for $5 and get an instant $3 off so they'll be 67 cents each.  I did this last year and had enough juice boxes to last all summer so I'll probably do that again.

Digiorno frozen pizza~On sale for $3.99- $2 coupon from facebook.  I bought 2 pizzas and received a dollar off my next order.
Rotel tomatoes with green chiles~ These are part of the buy 10, get the 11th item free sale, plus I had a 55 cents/2 coupon.
Gold Peak iced tea-FREE!  $1/1 coupon on coupons.com.

Meijer Deals~Aug 28-Sept 3

Here's the best deals I got at Meijer this week:

Fresh boneless chicken breasts- $1.99/lb when you buy the family size pack (aprox. 6 lbs)

Boneless country-style pork ribs- $1.49/lb (these are great browned and tossed in the crockpot with bbcue sauce on low for about 4 hrs)

Gold fish (whole grain of course!)- Buy one, get one free (about a $1 per package)

Cauliflower- $1.25 per head (I bought 3 heads and I'm going to try freeze 2. This is one vegetable Andrew and Noah love, but its usually pretty expensive.)

Meijer Deals

This week Meijer is having their buy 10 items, get the 11th item free sale. They have this sale every couple of months and there are always a couple of items I like to stock up on. This time I stocked up on animal crackers, brown n serve sausage, English muffins, and broccoli (I'm going to freeze some of it). I also got 3 lbs of white potatoes for $1 and colored peppers are also a good price, $1 per pepper. If you are strategic in your planning, you can get these items for 90 cents a piece when you get the 11th item free.

Meijer Deals

So I'm going to start another weekly post on current Meijer deals since I have come to realize I have more readers than I thought. :-) Yay! I think this will be helpful.

These were my best deals this week. Note: I said these were MY best deals. According to a lot of the deal blogs I read, these would probably not be good deals. But I have come to find that I have to do what works best for me and my family. I already spend a chunk of time clipping coupons, researching prices, etc. and I don't want this to be an all-consuming thing. So you have to find the price points that work for you.
That being said, here's what I spent on the above pic: The pasta was 45 cents each and the rice was $1 each. So about $8 total. And here's why it pays to check out those Paper Gators. I had 7 coupons for the pasta that I have been collecting, just waiting for a sale. Last week I had 5 coupons for $1 off Muellers pasta which was on sale for $1 so I got 5 boxes of free pasta. Maybe we should have pasta a few times a week for awhile?? The rice is a very convenient food for me to have in the house. Right now I only have to make 1 bag at a time since Joel and Noah don't like rice so its a pretty cheap side dish for our family (and whole grain!). The lowest price I've seen on this rice previously was $1.66 so I think this is a great price! I may pick up more later this week.

Great week at Meijer

Had some fun at Meijer this week. Here's a few deals:

*Lysol cleaning wipes~ 3/$5, I had 2 $1.50 off one coupons so I got two for 17 cents each. I've never bought these before, but they were the right price and I thought they would be nice in the bathrooms for quick cleans.

*Propel~price drop 59 cents, I had $1/2 making them 9 cents each.

*Greenworks all purpose cleaner, $2.17 each ? (can't find my receipt), Buy 2, get $2 off instantly plus I had an mperks coupon for 50 cents off 2, making them less than a dollar each.

*Greenworks dishwashing soap, $2.17 each ?, same deal as above, plus I had 2 $1 off coupons making them 17 cents each.

*Triscuits, $1.67 each, I had 2 $1/1 coupons so they were 67 cents each.

*Similac 32 oz ready to feed, I had a $5/1 Similac product and these are on sale for $5 each so it was free. I will probably use it with Aaron when I need a babysitter, but this would be great to donate to the PRC.

Meijer was all out of Finish tabs so I have to go back and try get some later this week.

My Meijer Mis-experience

(I made a new word. Like it?)

I usually go grocery shopping on Monday nights, sometimes by myself but more often with 1+ children. The original plan was to take Noah and Andrew and let them get the "special" cart (the ones you pay $1 for and kids can watch Bob, etc.). I've only allowed them to do this once before and so they were pretty happy about it. Unfortunately, Andrew misbehaved after dinner and so he had to stay home. Fortunately for Joel, he was elected to take Andrew's place. So off I went with Noah and Joel. First stop was Family Fare where they were perfect. Second stop was Walgreens where I spent $3 and got $7 in RR (Happy face over here!). Last stop, the big one, was Meijer. Boys were super stoked and hopped into the special cart. All was well for about 90 seconds. Unfortunately, Joel does not really like to watch videos. And so he started being a pest about 90 seconds into the adventure. And Noah doesn't like to be pested. So he was rather vocal in his protests. And everyone in a 5 mile radius of Meijer decided to go grocery shopping last night. So it was rather busy. I decided to zoom through my shopping. I grabbed my 10 lbs of ground beef from the butcher for my freezer cooking day, taking 7 lbs in one package since I was just going to brown it all up. Got to the checkout and the cashier discovered their was no bar code on the package. No problem, I just showed him one of the 1 lb. packages with the price. Unfortunately, when I got home, I discovered he charged me regular price, not the sale price. So I lost 7 bucks there. And Joel went into meltdown mode in the checkout. Not a pleasant experience. To make matters worse, the special cart decided it didn't want to turn one of its wheels on the way out. So I had to stick my hip into it and forcibly slide it across the entire front of the store to its parking spot. Believe me, I was sweating by the time I left. Joel and Noah will NOT be accompanying me together to Meijer any time soon.
