A beautiful, sweet children's hymn. My aunt used to sing this with her kids at bedtime.
When He Cometh
When He cometh, when He cometh
To make up His jewels,
All His jewels, precious jewels,
His loved and His own.
Refrain:
Like the stars of the morning,
His bright crown adorning,
They shall shine in their beauty,
Bright gems for His crown.
He will gather, He will gather
The gems for His kingdom;
All the pure ones, all the bright ones,
His loved and His own.
Refrain
Little children, little children,
Who love their Redeemer,
Are the jewels, precious jewels,
His loved and His own.
Refrain
To make up His jewels,
All His jewels, precious jewels,
His loved and His own.
Refrain:
Like the stars of the morning,
His bright crown adorning,
They shall shine in their beauty,
Bright gems for His crown.
He will gather, He will gather
The gems for His kingdom;
All the pure ones, all the bright ones,
His loved and His own.
Refrain
Little children, little children,
Who love their Redeemer,
Are the jewels, precious jewels,
His loved and His own.
Refrain
Greetings from Wordwise Hymns. Your blog caught my eye because I posted an article on this lovely gospel song this morning. I'm glad the song brings back memories for you, but I hope you and your church still sing it. Though it was intended as a children's hymn, I note that the Lord Jesus called His disciples "little children," so it can be a song for all of us. :-)
ReplyDeleteHi Robert,
ReplyDeleteOur church only sings psalters during the worship service, although we sing hymns during special song services. I will be teaching this song to my children though and know that it applies to all God's people.
Thanks,
Heather
