I haven't been to Morrie's since last summer.  It is kind of out of my way to go to, and ever since I got pregnant with Luke, I've been avoiding taking all of the boys grocery shopping with me.  But yesterday I saw on facebook that they had gotten a dairy load in and big bags of romaine lettuce for only 75 cents, and since it was a no nap day for the boys (including Aaron), I loaded them all into the van and gave them very explicit instructions on how they were to act in the store.  They did great!  Of course, a promised treat when we were done shopping didn't hurt either.

Anyway, here's what I got yesterday:
2 huge bags of romaine lettuce for 75 cents each.  In retrospect, 1 probably would have been plenty.
2 bags of frozen diced onions for 79 cents each
10 fruit n grain bars for $1
10 bags of apple slices for $1
Chobani greek yogurt for 50 cents each
Dole smoothie shakers for 89 cents each
Large jar of unsweetened applesauce for $1.99
Chip bags for 10 cents each
Animal cracker boxes 6/$1
Dove chocolate bar 50 cents
Salami slices 89 cents

I also saw ground beef for $1.99/ lb in a 20 lb tube.  Probably pretty fatty but would work well if you browned it and drained the fat.

I timed my trip and it took me about 1 hr so it may be worth my time to check it out every month or so.  Their inventory changes all the time, but if you keep an eye on their fb page, they sometimes post different things they have stocked.

I just paid $26.50 for 268 diapers, size newborn-2.  That's less than 10 cents per diaper.  I think that's a pretty good deal??  Plus they are shipped to my front door.

Holiday Card Deal~29 cents when you have them ship it!

Use the above code at cardstore.com to get holiday photo cards for 29 cents when you let them mail the cards.  Good for TODAY only.  I thought this was a pretty good deal since stamps are 45 cents each.  I did send some cards to Canada and they charged me $5.25 to send 7 or 8 cards.  Still, cheaper than if I did it myself.

At Family Fare:

*Ground beef is $1.85/lb.  Buy a family pack (about 3 lbs) and 3 Kraft cheeses on sale for 3/$5 and get $3 off automatically and $2 OYNO.  I don't normally go to FF, but I'm completely out of ground beef so I'm going to try go this week.  Thanks, Nora!

*Kraft deal-Buy 10 Kraft products, get $10 OYNO.  I bought Planter's peanuts, cheese, and dressing with some previously printed coupons, but if you don't have any coupons, you can still get shredded cheese for about 88 cents/ package when you buy 10.

Turned out to be quite the couponing week at Meijer.  Here's a few things:

And a few more things I picked up this morning.  I ended up going to Meijer 3x this week, but was able to do it without a lot of impulse items added to the bill.  I got some free soy sauce, Coffeemate for $1.12/bottle (coupon at coffeemate.com), and some Magnum ice cream bars (These are delicious!) and Yosicles for about $1.25 after I use the $2 OYNO when I bought the 4 frozen treats.

I went to Ric's Food Center in Rockford with my mom yesterday and found some great deals on meat.  Ric's is a small, kind of upscale grocery store right on the corner of Belding and Myers Lake Rd.  I found 4 one lb packages of ground sausage for $1 each and 2 two lb packages of meatloaf mixture for $2 each.  $1/lb for ground meat is not too shabby!  I never find such good prices on marked down meat at Meijer.  Leave a comment if you can share any suggestions on how to get good priced meat.

Charmin 24 pack double roll tp~Buy 2, get $7 OYNO.  I bought 2 at about $24 with tax.  I'm not sure if this is a great deal, but we needed tp!

I Can't Believe It's Not Butter~$1.67 each.  There is a coupon for $1.25/1 and a Meijer Mealbox for $1/2 making these free!

Meijer Butter Quarters~$1.68 each

Johnsonville Breakfast sausage ~2/$4.  There is a coupon for 75 cents/1.

Philadelphia Cream Cheese~4/$5 and get $1.50 OYNO when you buy 4 (Cheaper than Aldi!).

Morrie's Grocery outlet is a discount grocery store that sells damaged, expired, or surplus foods.  And before you get sicked out, check out the info here on eating expired foods.  The boys and I made our 2nd visit to Morrie's this morning and here are some of the deals we found, starting at the sourcream and going clockwise:

Breakstone sour cream~69 cents

Malt-o-meal cereal ~ 99 cents
2 lbs of shredded colby cheese~$2.99 (I got this home and saw that the expiration date was Dec, but there is no signs of mold, etc, so I think it'll be fine.)
Uncle Ben's Ready Rice ~ 79 cents (the rice felt a bit hard in the package so we'll see how it tastes)
Bittersweet baking chocolate ~ $1.49
Individual bags of snacks ~ 10 cents each (LOVE these for trips to park, zoo, etc.)

I also saw Starbucks coffee, $5.99 for 12 oz.  Not sure if that's a good deal or not.
Morrie's stock varies each time you go so you're never sure what kind of "treasure" you will find.  They also sell yogurt, eggs, meat, paper goods, diapers, etc.  

Finish Powerball Tabs Deal

I have used powder, liquid, and these handy all-in-one dishwasher tabs and I have to say, the tabs wash my dishes much better than the other alternatives.  So even though they are a bit more money, it is worth it to have clean dishes when I open the dishwasher.  Right now, you can get 400 of these tabs for about $40 at the Costco website.  Check out the details here at Common Sense With Money.  400 is a lot and will last me well over a year.  The price without a Costco membership comes to about 10 cents per tab (There is a $1.80 surcharge if you are not a Costco member.) which is a great deal on these.  And, bonus, they are shipped right to your door!

Meijer Deals~Jan.15-21

I was going to take a pic, but I forgot.  Anyhoo, here's the best deals I see:

Boneless pork ribs~$1.89/lb (The only thing I ever do with these is brown them and stick them in the crockpot on low for about 4 hrs with barbecue sauce.  Any other ideas??)

Mott's apple juice~I did not get these because they were totally gone, but if they are at your Meijer, you can get 5 bottles for 79 cents each.  Just use (2) $1/2 Meijer Mealbox coupons and you automatically get $5 off when you buy 5.  Maybe I'll be able to get some later this week.

Eggs~99 cents/dozen (limit 4)

Carter's pjs for about 5 bucks each

Do you still need holiday photo cards?  I just found a deal at Vistaprint today that I wish I would have known about before I spent $16 at Snapfish.  You can get 100 free postcards and just pay the cost of shipping and $3.74 for uploading your own picture.  I chose the 21 day shipping (I've heard it never takes that long.) so my total was just over $10 for 100 postcards.
